What this image resizer does
It scales your image to the dimensions you choose using high-quality interpolation algorithms — then lets you download the result in JPEG, PNG or WebP. Whether you need a YouTube thumbnail, an Instagram post or a specific pixel size, the resizer handles it in one step. Smaller images mean faster page loads, quicker uploads and less storage, which matters whether you are publishing content, attaching references or shipping assets to a client.
Supported resize modes
- Pixels
- Enter exact width and height values. With aspect ratio locked, changing one dimension automatically calculates the other.
- Percentage
- Scale uniformly by a percentage of the original size — 50% halves the dimensions, 200% doubles them. The tool warns you before upscaling.
- Max Dimension
- Specify a maximum for the longest side. The image is scaled down proportionally so it fits within that limit without distortion.
- Presets
- One-click sizes for Instagram, YouTube, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Discord. Each preset sets the exact dimensions the platform recommends.
Quality modes
- Best Quality
- Uses Lanczos filtering for downscaling — the sharpest, most detail-preserving algorithm available. Best when output fidelity matters more than speed.
- Fast
- Uses Bilinear interpolation, which is significantly faster on large images while still producing smooth results. Ideal for batch workflows or mobile devices.
- Pixel Art
- Uses Nearest-neighbor interpolation to preserve hard pixel edges without smoothing. Choose this for sprites, icons, or any artwork with deliberately sharp pixel boundaries.
Private by design
Most online resizers upload your file to a server, process it there and send it back. This one does not. The resize algorithms run locally in your browser, so your image data never leaves your device — there is no upload step, nothing is stored, and the tool keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Resizing runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your images are never sent to EditVaultz or any third party.
Which image formats are supported?
You can resize JPEG, PNG and WebP files and optionally convert between those formats during the resize.
Does resizing reduce image quality?
Downscaling with the "Best Quality" mode uses Lanczos filtering, which preserves sharpness and detail. Upscaling cannot add detail that isn't in the original — the tool warns you before upscaling.
What social media presets are included?
Presets for Instagram Post, Story and Reel Cover, YouTube Thumbnail and Banner, X/Twitter, Facebook Post and Cover, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Discord — one click sets the exact dimensions each platform recommends.
Is there a file size or resolution limit?
Files up to 50 MB and approximately 100 megapixels are accepted. These limits exist because resizing temporarily holds the decoded image in memory, which can crash a browser tab on very large images.
Can I resize an image to larger dimensions?
By default the tool blocks upscaling because enlarging an image cannot add new detail. You can enable "Allow upscale" to proceed, but the result may appear soft or blurry.
