How to Use LUTs in Premiere Pro
A LUT (Look-Up Table) instantly applies a color grade to your footage. In Premiere Pro you apply LUTs through the Lumetri Color panel. Here is exactly how, plus where to get free cinematic LUTs.
Applying a LUT with Lumetri Color
Select your clip, open Window > Lumetri Color, and expand the Basic Correction or Creative section. Under Creative, open the "Look" dropdown and choose "Browse…" to load your .cube LUT file.
Once applied, use the Intensity slider to control how strong the grade is. Most LUTs look best between 50–80% intensity rather than full strength.
Correct before you grade
A LUT works best on balanced footage. Before applying it, fix exposure and white balance in Basic Correction so the LUT lands on neutral footage. Applying a LUT to under- or over-exposed clips gives inconsistent results.
Creating an adjustment layer
To grade your whole timeline at once, create an adjustment layer (File > New > Adjustment Layer), drag it above all clips, and apply the LUT to that layer. Now every clip below shares the same grade.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a LUT and a preset?
A LUT only remaps colors. A preset can store LUTs plus other adjustments like contrast, saturation and curves. LUTs are more portable across software.
Where can I get free LUTs?
EditVaultz has free cinematic LUTs, including a teal and orange look, ready to load into Lumetri Color.
