How to Install LUTs in DaVinci Resolve
DaVinci Resolve has one of the most powerful color grading systems available for free. Adding custom LUTs expands your grading options beyond the built-in looks. Here is how to install them and apply them correctly.
Where to put LUT files
DaVinci Resolve reads LUTs from a specific system folder. On Windows open File > Project Settings > Color Management > Open LUT Folder. On Mac the path is usually /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/LUT/. Copy your .cube files into this folder or a subfolder you create.
After copying, restart Resolve or click "Update Lists" in Color Management for the new LUTs to appear.
Applying a LUT on the Color page
Switch to the Color page, select your clip, then right-click a node and choose 3D LUT > pick your LUT from the list. Alternatively, drag a Corrector node onto the Node Graph and set its mode to 3D LUT.
For a lighter touch, add the LUT on a separate node after your primary correction and lower its Key Output Gain to blend it with the uncorrected image.
Applying to multiple clips at once
Grade one clip, then middle-click other clips in the timeline thumbnail strip to copy the grade (including the LUT node) to all of them. Or save the graded node tree as a PowerGrade in the Gallery — it persists across projects.
